Cover Reveal - Fallen From Grace by K Anne Raines

Title: Fallen From Grace
Author: K Anne Raines
Genre: Young Adult

Seventeen year-old Grace grows up knowing she’s different, but she always attributed it to a mother who didn’t want her, a father who abandoned her, and a curse that sets her apart. Despite those struggles, her grandfather remained her rock and confidant. Her life irrevocably shatters the day her grandfather dies.

The day of his funeral sets off a chain of events, making Grace question everything she’s ever known to be true, and as a result, who she can truly trust. She inherits his house, part of his money, his Guardian and something that ties them together.

Just before Grace’s 18th birthday, she is thrust into a world she couldn’t fathom existed and does everything she can to thwart the destiny suddenly forced upon her. She’s been chosen for greatness, but at what cost? With eyes now open, she must choose to either be Chosen, or watch those around her suffer the consequences.

Torn between the man who’s come to protect her and the one sent to destroy her, she teeters on
the edge of decision, trying to come to grips with who she is, what she wants and what all of that means for her, those she loves and the rest of mankind.

Excerpt from Whisper Cape

While Cael signed all the necessary paperwork, he left Addison in the living room gazing out the huge picture window.
“You come with good references. This is a small town and everyone knows just about everyone. Here are the keys. You two have a nice evening, now.” Addison turned toward the two men as Tom glanced in her direction and she blushed as she smiled back. Cael thought she looked radiant.
Cael closed the door and strolled toward her. “So, Addison, welcome to my temporary home.” He stretched out his arms with his palms up, wanting to resume where they’d left off upstairs.
She held up her hand and bent to grab her purse from the table, pulling her jacket tight. “I should go.”
As she started for the door, he caught her arm, bringing her in close to him. He held her, gazed into her soft golden brown eyes. God, how he wanted her—there was no denying it. He put his hand under her chin—tilting her face up to his—his mouth just inches from hers. Searching her eyes, he remembered there was a great possibility she was Ristéard’s daughter and he slowly eased away from her.
“Sorry, you’re right. You should go.”
She almost stumbled as he let go of her. “Right … it would probably be the best thing.”
He noted the disappointment in her voice and he walked her to the door, fully intending to open it, but instead he grabbed her again, pulling her close. This time he didn’t hesitate as he took her face in his hands and pressed his lips to hers. Her lips were warm and tender; he pulled back and stared at her, then covered her mouth with his again, losing himself when she slid her hands up his back and her lips parted. His tongue slid slowly over hers as he heard a soft moan escape from the back of her throat, the desire flooding his body unbearable.
Addison lowered her arms from his back and gently pushed away, ending the kiss.
His heart pounding, he sighed. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. I mean, it was just a kiss.”
She blushed and he was amused at her attempt to sound casual.
He wanted to make love to her right there, but his sudden desire to protect her took over. He wanted to question her about the telekinetic ability he’d witnessed her using at the cliff, but didn’t think she trusted him enough to confide in him yet. He figured she would never share her secret with him if she didn’t trust him. Wanting to be cautious in his approach, he gently placed his hands on her shoulders and asked, “Addison, have you experienced anything strange lately? You know, out of the ordinary.”
There was hesitation in her eyes before she darted them away. “No, why? I’m not sure what you mean.”
He frowned, studying her face—her lips still inflamed from the kiss. She was lying, but he also knew she thought it necessary to protect herself from exposure to the wrong people. It would require time for her to trust him enough.
“Well, be careful, especially when you’re out alone taking pictures or anything else, okay?”
He wanted to stay with her, protect her, and thought of telling her who he really was and why he was there, but realized it was too soon.
“Addison, will you let me cook you dinner, you know, for helping me today?”
“That’s really not necessary, I hardly did anything. I’m not even sure I gave you my opinion.”
“Oh, yes you did, upstairs—you said this place was spectacular.”
Her smile brightened the room. “Yes, I guess I did ... you want to cook me dinner?”
“Yes, I would like that very much. Besides, I need help breaking in the kitchen.”
“Well, okay.”
“When is your next night off?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Good, then I’ll come by for you. Will you be at the bar or at home?”
“I have the whole day off, so I’ll be at home, but you don’t have a car. How will you get there?”
“I’ll manage.” He smiled as he held the door open for her and they walked to her truck.
He wanted to take her in his arms again, but he knew if he did, he wouldn’t be able to control the desire to drag her back inside, rip her clothes off, and kiss every inch of her soft curves.
He cupped her chin in his hand and ran his thumb over her lips. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then,” he said as he opened her truck door and helped her in.

Review of Eternal Island by K.S. Haigwood and Ella Medler

Title: Eternal Island
Author: K.S. Haigwood & Ella Medler
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publication date: October 27, 2012

Blurb:
A place where vampires rule, witches play, danger lurks and dreams really do come true.

Eternal Island is a paranormal suspense novel, deeply rooted into myth. Vampires and magic form a unique backdrop to a love story with long reaching consequences. Human girl Ariana Lochalan finds herself transported from the relative calm of her ‘Nowhere, Arkansas’ life into a diametrically opposite existence when she discovers she is a powerful witch and meant to wed High Vampire of Eternal Island, Abe Cambridge. Despite first-sight magnetism, the two protagonists are being pushed apart, obstacles tripping them at every step, outside forces interfering and threatening their peace, and ultimately their lives.

A world rich in magic and intrigue, Eternal Island is the first installment of a saga which has love at its core and delves through the mire that is human nature in a turmoil of feeling and emotion. Would courage, resilience and love be enough to bring together two soul mates?

How much would you sacrifice to save the one who owns your heart?

My Review:

Aw... I actually cried during one of the scenes at the end.

Okay. That's a sign of a good writer. LOL

I'm going to give this 4 1/2 stars.

First, let me say, thank you, K.S. and Ella for letting me read this awesome story for an honest review. I enjoyed it, particularly the second half.

Without having read any description or synopsis, it took me a while to get into the lightheartedness of it all because I expected a "dark" story about vampires and witches. My bad. I found it to be a delightfully lighthearted story about vampires and witches. Once I realized that, I really started enjoying it. It is sort of like a spoof on vampire novels. At first, I kept waiting for it to get serious, but then when it never did, I began to relax and go with the flow. It was a fun read. I laughed and chuckled in parts.

There were times that Arianna, Rainey and especially Becky sounded much like teenagers the way they talked. But like I said above, once I realized the lightheartedness of the story that all became much more acceptable.

Over all, by the second half of the book I was totally involved and needed to find out what happened. You made me laugh and you made me cry. What more could anyone want?

MY REVIEW OF BREAKING DAWN - PART 2

Breaking Dawn, Part 2

Well … where do I start? We’ve all been waiting so long for this final installment. I must admit, I was a little bent out of shape when they made this last book into two movies, but let me tell you NOW I completely understand why and I am so glad they did. This last movie was absolutely fantastic.

IMHO, better than the book!

Now I have never claimed that before. Not once have I ever read a book then watched the movie where I thought the movie was better. It just doesn’t happen. But in this case it did.
In the book, like all the books, we only get Bella’s point of view, except for that one part Ms. Myers wrote in Jacob’s POV. I’m so glad they have finally realized that they needed to have the other character’s thoughts in order to make it work for the movie. In fact, I thought the first movie was sort of lame because of the way they stuck so closely to the book and stayed completely in Bella’s POV.

In this last movie, we get to actually see Alice’s visions, which add to the story tremendously. I was completely thrilled with the way it turned out. I would definitely say that this movie is worthy of a second, maybe even a third or fourth viewing.

The Next Big Thing

This is The Next Big Thing blog hop.
Thank you, Cat Alley, Susan Ricci and Rita Webb, for inviting me to join this exciting blog hop. It is truly an honor. I am to answer the below questions about my next book and then tag other authors who might like to take part in this hop. It seems like a pay-it-forward type of deal and I like that, so, here goes.
What is the working title of your book?
Working title of my next book is A Secret Fate.
Where did the idea come from for the book?

A Secret Fate is the third book in Whisper Cape Series
What genre does your book fall under?
It is paranormal romance – urban fantasy
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
 Henry Cavill as Cael

Mila Kunis as Addison
 Gerry Butler as Gerry
Rachel Weisz as Maia
and
Goran Visnjic as Aiden
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
A powerful woman, an extraordinary man, and a maniac who wants to destroy them.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
It will be published by Amber Glow Books like the others.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m guessing about four months for the first draft. Maybe sooner. You can’t rush a good thing. LOL
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
The Whisper Cape series is an adult series that deals with supernatural powers and abilities. I suppose you could compare it to some that deal with ghosts and supernatural happenings, or TV shows like Heroes. It has been said its like X-men with sex. LOL There are a few young adult books out there that deal with supernatural powers. The Touch Series by Airicka Phoenix might be one. Another could be the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout, but her series deals with aliens, but still there is that supernatural power thing going on in them.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
My fans kept bugging me to write a sequel to Whisper Cape so I wrote Reflections. But I didn’t want to stop with Reflections. A Secret Fate is actually the original title to Whisper Cape. For some reason, it was changed. I don’t remember why, but I always loved the other title and it fits perfectly for the third book.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
A Secret Fate will answer some questions that are left by Reflections.
Thank you again, Susan and Rita, for thinking of me so I could take this opportunity to talk about my new book. I’d like to pass this along to some amazing authors that I follow and think everyone should consider reading their books.
Pam Ripling, aka Anne Carter
Note: I was only supposed to mention five, but I had to go with six. I actually have more authors that I admire and the list is growing. LOL If I could have mentioned all of them, believe me, I would have. If any of the authors mentioned above would like to join The Next Big Thing, Please let me know and I will forward the author questions.
Thanks for reading about A Secret Fate. I'm having fun writing it.

 Touching Smoke
About Airicka:

Airicka Phoenix is the author of TOUCHING SMOKE (Touch Book #1), TOUCHING ETERNITY (Touch 1.5), TORRID, a short story as part of the Whispered Beginnings: A Clever Fiction Anthology and WANTING & INTENTIONS, two stories as part of the Midnight Surrender Anthology. When she's not hammering away at the keyboard, she can be found banishing pirates or crawling through the attic looking for lost treasure with her kids. She loves baking, gardening and reading. She also likes to travel and take pictures of everything she comes across. When asked, Airicka describes herself as a sarcastic basket case that has an unhealthy addiction to chocolate, old movies and really bad jokes. She loves to laugh, make friends and write. If she could have one wish granted, it would be to spend one day as a fly-on-the-wall inside Stephen King's mind. If she could have two wishes granted, she would ask for a castle dedicated entirely to her overwhelming collection of books.
